Management Team

Scott McDermaid - Founder and CEO
Mr. McDermaid brings to Talon over 24 years of embedded product development experience including 12 years of wireless and communications technology development, management and entrepreneurial experience. He has held various technical and senior management level positions at Hughes Aircraft Company, Megatek Corporation, Tiernan Communications, Aegis Broadband and Hewlett-Packard. Additionally he has completed numerous consulting projects resulting in state of the art wireless, wired and video compression based projects. He has been involved with designing battery powered wireless radio systems for the past 6 years and was among the first to build both IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee based devices. Mr. McDermaid received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and has completed 80% his MSEE (emphasis on Wireless Communications and DSP) from San Diego State University. Mr. McDermaid is an active member of the San Diego business community and participates in many local organizations.

Shimon Gersten - Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Gersten brings to Talon over 25 years of experience developing products for the consumer, business and military markets. Mr. Gersten was an early contributor to the nascent ZigBee ecosystem starting with the first Zigbee implementation (Z-Stack rev 1.0) while at Figure 8 Wireless (now Chipcon, Texas Instruments). Current activities include on-going development in Smart Energy, Medical Devices, IEEE 802.15.4, IEEE 802.11 and proprietary wireless PAN and body area networks. His activities include product realization creating requirements, specifications, architecture, code, test, integration, field support and management before, during and after project life. Past experience in set-top, storage and data communication additionally contribute to Talon Communication's ability to provide solutions. Prior to his wireless career, Mr. Gersten developed network storage devices at Emerald Systems as Director of Systems Engineering. Before that he was the I/O Group manager at NCR in Rancho Bernardo developing numerous high performance transaction processing products. Mr. Gersten represented NCR and Emerald in several ANSI standard committees developing data communication protocols and standards. He holds BSEE from Israel and MBA from the USA.

Manny Enriquez - Vice President Engineering
Mr. Enriquez brings to Talon over 27 years experience in the electronics industry including significant ASIC, FPGA and systems design. Mr. Enriquez has extensive hands-on experience with tools from all the major commercial EDA suppliers as well as having architected and implemented numerous proprietary tools and methodologies. He has developed many chip designs across a broad range of product applications from graphics to communications. Prior to joining Talon, Mr. Enriquez held both technical and management level positions at Megatek Corporation over a twenty year period. Mr. Enriquez organized and led multiple ASIC teams and was primarily responsible for the architecture of the Company's most complex high end 3D graphics chipsets. He is a recognized expert in VHDL.
